I. Introduction

Timeline:
December 2019 - January 2020
The Project

Seasoned is an all inclusive application that allows users to track and keep up to date with all of their favorite seasonal items. Users can find limited merchandise, food, drinks, and more.

While attending Georgia Tech, I worked on a team of UX/UI Researchers and Designers to create a reliable and useful application to assist modern day shoppers.

The Problem

Modern day shoppers tend to struggle with keeping up with and tracking seasonal items. These items are often available for a limited time or first come first serve, because of this, it's hard to manage when items are in stock.

Tools Used
  • Adobe XD
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Flowmap

  • Miro
  • Trello
  • User Interviews
  • User Surveys
The Solution

Create an application, Seasoned, that would track and alert users to seasonal item releases, helping to ease the burden for many. Especially those who lead busy lives and still wish to keep up with these trends.

II. The Design Process

1. Discovery

I worked on a small team to create an application that assists individuals with tracking their favorite seasonal items. To start, we created a Proto-Persona, whom we thought fit the profile our target user base.

2. Research

We created and conducted User Interviews and distributed User Surveys to gather user insight. Upon doing this, I created our Affinity Map and User Persona, Kathryn King.

3. Definition

Next, we organized our user insights and noted Seasoned, will prove most successful when users are guaranteed a more hands-off experience. I also conducted Competitor Analysis to fully understand our industry standards and created our UX Scenario and User Storyboard.

4. Ideation

We created an I Wish, I Like, What If diagram and Feature Prioritization Matrix to construct the information architecture of the application. Lastly, we created a User Flow Diagram and ideated initial sketch wireframes.

5. Prototyping

We used our sketch wireframes to create a Lo-Fidelity Clickable Prototype, upon iterating our visual design, we created a Hi-Fidelity Clickable Prototype to conduct user testing to observe the overall usability of the product.

6. User Testing

We conducted User Testing on our Hi-Fidelity Clickable Prototype to observe how our product performs with potential users. Unfortunately, users faced confusion as this prototype consisted of very limited functionality and not every button was active for users to interact with.

III. Conclusion

Future Implications

Seasoned accomplished what we wanted it to, while it did not work as smoothly as we had hoped, the concept was enough for many of our users to get sold on the product. The majority of our improvements can be made towards the functionality of Seasoned, by making a more clear UI and implementing push notifications.
