I. Introduction

Timeline:
December 2019 - January 2020
The Project

Aspire - Travel App helps users facilitate group collaborative trip planning. Users can book flights and accommodations, create daily itineraries, and more.

While attending Georgia Tech, I worked on a team to design an all inclusive travel planning platform that is both user-friendly and adheres to standard iOS interface guidelines.

Deliverables
UX
  • Personas
  • Competitor Analysis
  • Flow Diagram
  • Storyboard
  • User Journey Map
UI
  • Wireframes
  • Prototypes
  • Visual Design
  • Digital Mockups
  • iOS Components
Branding
  • Logo Design
  • Color Styling
  • Visual Identity Design
  • Iconography
  • Typography
The Problem

Aspire was designed to assist groups of travelers with planning their next trip. We noticed that travel groups struggled most when collaborating booking accommodations. This causes travelers to use multiple platforms to coordinate planning when they would rather use one centralized platform.

Tools Used
  • Adobe XD
  • Miro
  • Trello
  • Flowmap
  • Pexels
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • User Interviews
  • User Surveys
  • UXPressia
The Solution

Aspire-Travel App, will assist individual travelers and groups by providing a platform to collaborate planning when booking flights, hotels, local transportation and more to create their ideal vacation.

II. The Design Process

1. Discovery

My team began ideating the product by creating Proto Personas who fit the profile of an ideal user for this application, modern day travelers. Ultimately, we were able to create our persona Chris Alford and created his pain points and goals from our assumptions and used it to develop our user survey and interview plan.

2. Research

We gathered user insight from 5 user interviews and 20 survey responses and conducted market research through Competitor Analysis. I then created our Affinity Diagram and Empathy Map to best understand the modern travelers’ needs. From this we created our User Persona, Stephanie Smith, a representation of our ideal user.

3. Definition

After gathering user research, I worked independently to define the potential problems travelers faced when planning. I concluded, if Aspire provides users with verified customer reviews, itineraries, and user-friendly features to promote smoother travel planning , users' will experience their most desirable trip.

4. Ideation

I started creating the visual design with sketch paper wireframes, a storyboard and user journey map to assist in constructing real-world user experiences with Aspire. Upon creating a feature prioritization matrix, I was able to iterate an intuitive user flow that encompassed the most important features gathered from user research.

5. Prototyping

It was time to make Aspire-Travel App digital! I used Adobe XD to develop several clickable iterations to Aspire’s visual design, this included a Lo-Fidelity and Hi-Fidelity prototypes and I ensured that the user interface adhered to the standard iOS human interface guidelines.

6. User Testing

Through every iteration of Aspire’s prototyping, I conducted 2-3 user tests to analyze any pain points within Aspire’s visual design. I was able to find and fix user issues experienced during testing that hindered the functionality and/or accessibility of the application.

III. Conclusion

Future Implications

Aspire - Travel App assists modern travelers with group collaborative planning to ensure an all-inclusive booking experience through authentic reviews and itineraries. To best enhance this product, further iterations of the user flow of Aspire should consist of a shorter and smoother itinerary creation.
